’20 Feet From Stardom’ Singers Set To Sing National Anthem At 2014 Rose Bowl

                         
Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, Judith Hill and Darlene Love, the backup singers who get the spotlight in RADiUS-TWC‘s Oscar documentary 20 Feet From Stardom, will sing the National Anthem at the 100th Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day 2014. The special performance during the Stanford-Michigan State game marks the first time in a century that one of the Rose Bowl participants’ band is not performing the “Star-Spangled Banner.” That’s about the flashiest PR stunt conceivable for this year’s heated Oscar docu race, and shrewd timing – nominations voting ends just a week later on January 8.

 

Lady Gaga Performs For Adele And Emma Watson At Star Studded London Gig

• Lady Gaga has been taking London by storm since jetting in earlier this week and last night saw the hitmaker perform to a star studded crowd including the likes of Emma Watson and Adele.

While Channel 4 viewers were watching Gaga get arty with Alan Carr on Chatty Man last night, which she recorded on Wednesday, the star took to the stage at plush private members club Annabell's in London for her gig.
The Born This Way star performed a 50 minute set for the starry crowd, and she pulled out all the stops with her costume. The 27-year-old looked amazing in a sparkly basque and matching knee high boots, with featured her trademark sky high heel.
The event was hoste by Belvedere Vodka to celebrate RED, a limited edition vodka bottle in collaboration with Bono's charity RED with 50% of profits going to The Global Fun fighting AIDS and HIV.
Gaga added a floaty bustle and headpiece to her look and rocked a dark blonde curly wig as she headed inside the packed venue for her set. It looks like the singer was in the mood to party and mingle with her A-list fans afterwards though as she wasn't spotted leaving until 2am.
Harry Potter star Emma was also seen leaving in the early hours, looking super chic in a black coat and strappy heels.
The actress slicked back her dark locks into an up do and added a slick of deep red lippie for her night out, where she no doubt caught up with the likes of Adele who was also spotted at the gig

Lola, as she’s known, made her debut as the rule-breaking Betty Rizzo in LaGuardia High School’s production of “Grease.

In the program, Lola Leon, 17, gave shout-outs to her mom and dad, personal trainer and performer Carlos Leon.
“She would like to thank her parents,” she noted in her bio, “for giving her guidance and love and supporting her passions wholeheartedly.”

Lola might have also thanked her superstar mother for her star-power DNA and fashion sense. But instead of mom’s iconic cone bra, Lola rocked the Eisenhower-era costumes in the show set in 1959 at Rydell High School.

That meant pencil skirts, clamdiggers and a halter top. And, of course, the classic Pink Ladies bomber jacket for every girl gang member.

Rizzo is the sarcastic Pink Lady who has no time for good girls or need for a glass when it comes to booze.
“Drink it out of the bottle,” Lola growled in character, while holding cheap vino. “We ain’t got cooties.”

A senior majoring in drama at the prestigious school made famous in “Fame,” Lola had comic chops and confidence on stage. She delivered Rizzo’s zingers with hands on her hips and a lot of attitude.

But Rizzo needs to sing and dance, too. And Lola, who was terrific at both, found the comedy in her Act I solo, “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee.” She also dug for something deeper and found it in “There are Worse Things I Could Do.”
In the audience was her mother, Madonna, with kids, Rocco, David and Mercy and friends. Lola’s Carlos also attended the show.
Madonna was an appreciative audience throughout the show, at times laughing at her daughter’s antics, and at one point she and her friend took a picture of another actor during the song, “Mooning.” The proud mom had a big bouquet of white roses resting in her lap for her daughter, and she and Leon shared a kiss after the performance.
Lola blended into a high-energy ensemble led by Tommaso Di Blasi as Danny Zuko and Julia Dean and Victoria Johnson, who alternate as the goody-goody Sandy Dumbrowski.
