Listen to Nick Kroll, Reese Witherspoon cover a Taylor Swift song to a 'sick' EDM beat

The soundtrack to a movie about singing animated animals was bound to be weird. We didn't think it would be, like, "Reese Witherspoon singing a 2014 Taylor Swift song with Nick Kroll" weird.
Yes, indeed, Witherspoon and Kroll, who play two pig performers in Sing, tackle "Shake it Off" for the film's soundtrack. At first, it's upbeat and bouncy, much like Swift's version, but about midway through ...it might be EDM?
Does anyone feel comfortable breaking out their pacifiers and raving to this?

'Dota 2' team receives Guinness World Record for $9 million win

LOS ANGELES — Team Wings received a Guinness World Record on Friday after scoring the biggest winnings for a single esports event: $9,139,002 for the Dota 2 International 2016 championship.
Winning the Seattle summer tournament secured them almost half the record-breaking $20,000,000 prize pool — further proof that esports is well on its way to becoming a billion dollar industry.

Dota 2
used a crowdfunding method of growing the prize from its original $1,600,000, which is funded by Valve. The game developer offers a "Battle Pass" as in-game downloadable content in Dota 2, which can cost nearly $30, a quarter of which goes to the prize pool. Valve has been using this method since 2013 and has raised a grand total of $52,468,328 across various Dota tournaments.
This isn't the first time Dota has made it in the Guinness World Record book; the game had a two page spread in 2014 for most monthly users with 3 million.
You can watch Wings Gaming in their next Dota 2 tournament, The Boston Major, happening December 7-10. The total prize for that tourney is $3,000,000.

Fifth Harmony confess their most embarrassing on-stage moments

For a brief moment, there was a man on stage during the kickoff show for Fifth Harmony's 7/27 tour on Coney Island in New York City.
He kicked a few beach balls that had made their way onto the stage back into the crowd, and quickly disappeared into the night, barely registering in the thunderous roar of girl power.
In the crowd, girls in their brand new, baby pink tour baseball caps witnessed the reemergence of the pop girl group as an unstoppable force of empowerment.
The group's 2016 hit, "Work From Home," was the first song from a girl group to crack the Billboard top ten in eight years, but before all that came plenty of humiliation. Yes, Dinah-Jane Hansen was a shark in The Little Mermaid, and it's possible to screw up that minor of a role.
Ahead of their gig headlining VH1's Save the Music benefit show on August 27, Mashable caught up with 5H to talk about some of their favorite pre-fame moments on stage. The girls were all quick to laugh at their earliest screw ups — and a few that aren't so far in the distant past. We now know you can absolutely pee on the X-Factor stage and go on to be nominated for a VMA.

Ally Brooke:
I was in a talent show when I was in elementary school, and one of my songs was "What Dreams are Made Of" from The Lizzie McGuire Movie. I was so excited. I was killing it and getting a great crowd response, and the end of my performance, I had glitter ready in my hand, so when the song ended, I would be like, bam. But the glitter just fell. It’s on home video somewhere. It was fun, though, you get to do what you love and you have your friends and family support you out there, and I think that’s an important thing to provide for kids.

Normani Hamilton: I’ve been dancing since I was three, so I was like a competition kid, and I was doing my first solo on my birthday. My mom had begged my dance teacher to let me do a solo, since I had always been in group numbers. But I wanted the opportunity to be on stage by myself and showcase what I could do, so for my first dance competition, my grandma made my costume. I was set. I practiced but I got so nervous before I went on stage that I cried. I cried before I even went out on stage. But when I went out on stage, I forgot my dance routine, so I ran offstage, asked my dance teacher, ran back on, and finished it. I actually won, because they let me do a redo.
Lauren Jaruegei:  At the talent show in my ninth grade year, I did a Lady Gaga medley, and I dressed up like her. I sang a "Poker Face" and "Speechless" mashup.
Camilla Cabello: I was in fourth grade. I was always trying to get into arts extra-curricular activities. When I was in fourth grade, I auditioned for choir, and we had to sing "America the Beautiful" in front of our teacher, and I got so nervous that I got a massive brain fart and forgot the words. A few days after, there would be a sheet of all the students that made it outside of the classroom, and I just went and looked for my name, and it wasn’t there. I didn’t make it. But in fifth grade, I auditioned again for choir and I did make it.
Another time, we were doing The Little Mermaid musical, and I got the shark. Literally my only job was to walk across stage, and I walked across the stage for the wrong part. I walked on stage, gasped, and walked off.
Dinah-Jane Hansen: When I was on X-Factor, I peed on stage. I was trying to tell the production manager backstage before I went on, “I really have to pee."
I kept telling the girls, Ally was next to me. They asked, 'Can you wait five minutes?" Twenty minutes tick by and I was like, "I need to pee." Right before the doors open, I’m waiting. I’m waiting for my pee to go away, and it started dripping down my leg, and I performed live with pee on my legs. No one noticed!

Jennifer Lawrence isn't sure she'll appear in more 'X-Men' roles, says Fox should 'be terrified'

Https%3a%2f%2fblueprint-api-production.s3.amazonaws.com%2fuploads%2fcard%2fimage%2f94009%2fjen

Jennifer Lawrence isn't quite ready to play Mystique again.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress shared that she's not sure if she'll do another X-Men flick. Her three-picture deal is up following the release of X-Men: Apocalypse and it might be the last we see of her as Mystique, in addition to costars Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast).
“Fassbender and McAvoy and I were all talking,” she says, “Like, ‘Will you come back?’ ‘I dunno.’ ‘I’ll come back, if you come back.’ Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn’t come back, none of us are.”

Though she says she would "love to come back," and adores the fans, it's quite a time commitment.
"You realize how important your year is, like how important three months out of your year is," she says. "I don’t know. I shouldn’t be that honest.”
Plus, there's no way to pretend it's fun putting on Mystique's body paint.
"You go in and you realize you’re rock bottom and like this sucks and it could not suck more,” she says.

See how 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' looks during a on-stage rehearsal

Screen_shot_2016-04-22_at_2.02.17_pm

In less than 50 days, Harry Potter makes his first foray from page and screen to stage, inHarry Potter and the Cursed Child, the two-part play set to open in London. As the cast begins rehearsing everything from duels to diction, J.K. Rowling visited the theater to see how her magical story lives on.
A video taken during the April 18 rehearsal features the cast of children and adults rehearsing blocking and wand choreography.
"One of the things that I have valued most about the Potter fandom is that as a community they have really looked after each other," said Rowling. "People have each other's backs, it's a special thing."
The production trio are self-admittedly nervous about previews and a premiere, but optimistic about the learning process.
"What works here [in rehearsal] might not necessarily work on the stage in the same way, and might require quite big chances in order to make it function in a really powerful way," Thorne said.
"This will be such an incredible theatrical experience that I'd love us to be able to surprise people and move people, in the natural way that a story should surprise and move people," Rowling added.

Batman v Superman $170 million box office is huge for Easter's future

Batman_v_superman

Critics despised it and audiences seem lukewarm, but excitement over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was high enough to propel a monster opening weekend for Warner Bros.
The estimated domestic total is $170.1 million. Assuming that number stands, it's just enough to slay the studio's previous all-time opening record, set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 ($169.1 million).

Batman v Superman': Go like a speeding bullet to see this dark mess
The race is so close that we won't know for sure which one comes out on top until Monday, when the final weekend receipts are tallied. WB's estimate is based on concrete numbers for Friday and Saturday, plus Sunday estimates.
Whether or not the Potter record stands, the box office success for BvS is a validation of the studio's long-term DC Comics plan. The new movie is the first building block in a series that's meant to rival Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Just don't overlook who the real winner is this weekend: Easter.
Easter weekend hasn't traditionally been a platform for mega-blockbuster launches, but that changed in 2015 when Furious 7 cruised to a record-setting $148.2 million opening. It more than doubled the previous record, set by WB's Clash of the Titans ($61.2 million) in 2010.
The similarly massive opening for BvS breaks Furious 7's Easter total. It is said that "three's a trend," and Fast and Furious 8 is currently poised to be the trend-setter in 2017, with anotherEaster weekend opening for the series.
In the past, the first quarter of any year is generally where questionable box office performers are sent to die. But with more studios warming to the idea of long-term franchise-building, there's not as much freedom to operate during the all-important spring and summer months, when school's out and many people seek respite from the heat.
For two years running, Easter has proven to be an oasis in the first-quarter desert. Furious 7 andBvS were both propelled by committed fanbases and deft hype-building, and in both cases the marketing spend paid off.
Trailing significantly behind BvS is Disney Animation's Zootopia, which looks to close its fourth weekend with an estimated $23.1 million. It's been a monster run so far for the family-friendly animated comedy, with a cumulative $240.5 million domestically as of this weekend, and just shy of $700 million worldwide.
The top five is rounded out by My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 ($18.1 million), Miracles From Heaven ($9.5 million) and The Divergent Series: Allegiant ($9.5 million).
It's a happy opening for Wedding, which has already eclipsed any of its 2002 predecessor's single weekend performances. The two movies are difficult to compare given the original's four-month run in limited release, but it seems unlikely that the wide-release Wedding 2 will come close to the original's $368.7 lifetime take at the box office.
Allegiant is also worth a mention. It immediately fell flat last weekend, with its opening domestic take coming in at a series-low $37.1 million. The franchise now seems to have fallen off a cliff completely, with less than $10 million earned off of more than 3,700 screens.
Allegiant is the first half of a two-part big screen adaptation of the final book in the young adult series. The Divergent Series: Ascendant is set to bow on June 9, 2017 after it was moved out of its original March release. It may well move again now if Summit and Lionsgate decide that the June 9 slot is better saved for more lucrative opportunities.

Season 28 of 'The Amazing Race' already feels like a #TeamInternet party

Race2

The show kicked off Friday night with 11 teams racing around Mexico City (Spoiler alert: No one got eliminated). While the competition — like other seasons — is stressful and fast-paced, there is one thing that stands out in Season 28: Camaraderie among the competitors.
The teams, made up of digital stars, hail from what's lovingly referred to as #TeamInternet. And it was obvious that even without their devices (no phones allowed!) to connect them to their fans and respected social media platforms, they took comfort in each other.
As they all headed to their respective airports, some teams bumped into each other — and were happy about it.
"If we were in college we’d go after Cole," Instagram models Jessica Versteeg and Brittany Oldehoff joked when they ran into fellow competitor Viner Cole LaBrant and his mom, Sheri, at the airport.
"I'm a huge fan!" YouTuber Blair Fowler, who is competing with her dad Scott, said when she ran into YouTube superstar Tyler Oakely and his BFF fellow video blogger Korey Kuhl.
"Come love me," Oakley said back, going in for a hug.
And when they were all together in Mexico City — even through all the rigorous tasks at hand — they seemed to be happy in each other's company. It felt like a #TeamInternet party, with all of CBS' viewers watching.
Digital stars have been crossing over into traditional entertainment spaces for so long that it's no longer really a trend. ABC's Dancing With The Stars has long been including digital stars in its line-up of competitors, most notably with the addition of YouTube lifestyle video blogger Bethany Mota.
Last year, YouTubers Grace Helbig and Todrick Hall got their own television shows on E! and MTV, respectively. Also in 2015, the fifth annual Streamy Awards, which honor excellence in online video and those who create it, was for the first time broadcast both on television and online (on VH1's digital platforms). Strategically, presenters spanned the entertainment spectrum, from more traditional celebrities like Paula Abdul and Ciara to YouTube giants Michelle Phan and Smosh.
But crossovers don't always work. Helbig's show didn't get picked up for another season and MTV has yet to announce whether Hall will get renewed.
By stacking up the season with all digital influencers, CBS bet big on the line-up.
So far, according to early Nielsen ratings, it seems to be paying off.
There was tons of Twitter engagement, but still not as high as one might think with the star power of digital influencers. The show racked up 37,883 tweets, according to Nielsen TV ratings. Of the tweets, 17,023 — almost 45% — contained "reactions," or tweets with emotions, according to social TV platform Canvs. The company uses tweets, provided by Nielsen, to determine what emotions people have about TV.
Per social, media, the season favorite so far is unsurprisingly Oakely and Kuhl. The duo were trending throughout the broadcast's East Coast time.

Jonah Hill set to host 'SNL' with musical guest Future

Jon

Jonah Hill will host Saturday Night Live on March 5 with musical guest Future.
The Hail, Caesar! star will be hosting the show for his fourth time, following stints in 2008, 2012 and 2014.
Meanwhile, Future will be making his debut SNL performance, likely performing a track from his new album EVOL.
Hill is one of few SNL hosts to nab a recurring character on the show. He often plays Adam Grossman, a fussy 6-year-old with the spirit of a schticky Catskills comedian.

Ben Stiller made a mock female Viagra ad for the Super Bowl

Meet the poster boy for female Viagra: Ben Stiller in a football jersey.
Stiller dropped by the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday to promote the long-awaited Zoolander 2. After revealing that he'd be cast in a Super Bowl ad that was cut for time, Fallon happily rolled the clip. And while the ad is, of course, fake, we're sure this footage of Stiller sensually rubbing a football would have killed as an actual TV spot.

Listen to David Bowie's incredible isolated vocal tracks from his iconic songs

Davidbowie

Following the death of cultural icon David Bowie, isolated tracks of some of the rock singer's most well-known songs have been making rounds on the Internet.
The tracks, unsurprisingly, demonstrate the musician's vocal prowess, which helped to define his career.
SEE ALSO: David Bowie's oddly beautiful life in rare photos

Released in 1972, "Starman" — from his album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars — was only Bowie's second hit (the first being "Space Oddity") and the first song to catapult him to megastardom.
Listen to the full album track here:

If you don't notice much of a difference between the two tracks, that's the point. Ziggy producer Ken Scott previously said in an interview that Bowie wanted that pure vocal quality to live on.
"I would set the level, we would roll tape and that was it," Scott said. "That became the performance everyone heard. Whether or not you love his voice is a personal matter, but his ability to put those performances across is beyond admonition. And that doesn’t mean they’re perfect. There are places where the pitch is slightly off, or the timing is slightly off. But they’re human."
The Internet also resurrected the track of Bowie and Queen's Freddie Mercury singing "Under Pressure," which according to blog Open Culture was born out of a "marathon session of nearly 24-hours."

The song was also originally titled "People on the Streets" before Bowie changed it to "Under Pressure." It was officially released in 1981. Listen to the full version below:

"Behold my baby boy," she says. "He woke up like this — flawless. One day, he'll turn water into wine, and we'll all be drunk in love."

After a shocking month, Jose Canseco searches for a wife via Twitter

Canesco

Jose Canseco, the former Major League Baseball outfielder infamous for his use of performance-enhancing drugs, has hit a new low. The troubled sports star has offered his hand in marriage along with a bonus green card. On Twitter.
It is the latest incident in a string of social media interactions that balance the fine line between heartbreaking and humorous. It is difficult to tell whether Canseco is having a laugh, or whether he is crying himself to sleep.
The recent fall from grace started when Canseco accidentally shot his middle finger off on Oct. 28, when he was cleaning a gun in the home he shared with his fiancee, model Leila Knight.
“He had been at the shooting range a few days earlier. He didn’t know it was loaded,” Knight told the New York Daily News. “The middle finger was hanging by a thread, and I wrapped his hand in a towel and then called 911."
Doctors reattached the 50-year-old's finger and police declared the incident an "accident," but it was the start of strange things to come. Not long after the finger-losing debacle, Canseco used Twitter to rant about the media's coverage of that day.
So to really show everyone, on Nov. 15, Canseco took to his favourite social media platform again to tell the world that he was playing poker when his re-attached middle finger fell off, but that it was for the best because it was "smelling bad."
Five days later and after a lot of speculation, TMZ reported Canseco admitted the entire thing was a hoax. Not long after, he also admitted his five-year relationship with Leila had come to an end.
It has been a war of he-says-she-says ever since Leila called 911 on Nov. 22 to report a domestic incident involving Canseco, claiming she was locked in the bathroom as he had threatened to kill her and her mother multiple times. Canseco refutes these claims and has called for a polygraph at least seven times on Twitter.
Then came the moment things became really odd. After appearing to lose all that was close to him, Canseco decided there was only one way to move on was with a tweet proposal to Shania Twain (now removed), including a topless photo of the former Bash Brother. That would show Leila what she was missing. Unfortunately, Twain is already settled with husband Frederic Thiebaud and no amount of begging would get her to respond.
After having his heartbroken twice in nine days, Canesco did the only obvious thing left. He begged publicly for a wife.

'Homeland' Producers Almost Set Season 4 in Israel

Homelandfixed

LOS ANGELES — When Homeland returns Oct. 5 for a new season, viewers will find Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) in Pakistan assigned to one of the most dangerous stations in the Middle East. But for a brief period during the season's development, producers almost took the story in a different direction that could have created big problems for the Showtime hit.
"We spent about two weeks seriously considering the possibility of setting the season in Israel," co-creator Alex Gansa revealed Friday during the Television Critics Association press tour, responding to a question about the show's balance of storyline and sensitivity of subject. "All I can tell you is that we're very happy we didn't do that."
Increasing tensions between Israel and Hamas have led to numerous deaths and ongoing distress in the area. The Gaza Ministry of Health says the death toll in Gaza is now up to 274, with 2,065 injured.
Producers on USA's limited series DIG, which filmed its pilot in Jerusalem, told reporters last week that production was on an extended hiatus as a result of the violence and, while not their first preference, they were exploring the possibility of relocating. FX's Tyrant has moved its production from Tel Aviv to Turkey.
"One of the great things about Homeland ... is that we really do get a chance to comment on what's happening in the world in a very immediate way," Gansa added.

Filming for the upcoming 12-episode season of Homeland is currently underway in South Africa, a decision that was made for "infrastructure" reasons as well as safety and security issues, according to producers.
"There are interesting stories to tell there for sure," added writer Alexander Cary of Israel, "but Pakistan is the one we eventually landed on."
The end of Homeland's Season 3 saw the death of Damien Lewis' Brody and the appointment of Carrie to a new post. The new season will explore her new position and introduce several new characters, including Life of Pi star Suraj Sharma.

Game of Thrones Recap: Winterfell's Moon Door

Petyr-baelishThis recap contains spoilers from this week's episode of Game of Thrones. Don't read unless you're all caught up, and don't say we didn't we warn you.
If you didn't think that Petyr Baelish was the most evil character in Westeros before, then this week's episode of Game of Thrones — "Mockingbird" — gives you pretty concrete proof.
The most interesting part of this week's episode happen in the Eyrie during the last 10 minutes. We see Sansa taking solace in building a miniature Winterfell in the snow. Sansa has hit rock bottom at this point. She's far from home, thinks her entire family is dead, and is now betrothed to the most annoying kid in the Seven Kingdoms.
Oh, also a creep that just talked about how hot her mom was tried to kiss her.
Lysa's horrific death through the Moon Door after confronting Sansa about the kiss was something we all saw coming. She was painted as an unsympathetic character — an ugly, jealous hag whose love made her blind to reality. Her death was shocking, but not because anyone would miss her. Lysa really is one of the weirdest characters in the series; the product of living in the shadow of her older sister and having to marry a man several times her age for family duty.
While Sansa's situation looked bad before Lysa's death, stuck in a horrible place and potentially engaged to someone far worse than Tyrion, it might be worse now. Petyr doesn't seem concerned about age of consent, and his obsession with Catelyn Stark means Sansa might be stuck in future awkward situations. Or he could take her under his wing as the future super-manipulator of Westeros.
While we haven't learned how Petyr plans to explain how Lysa fell down a giant hole in the floor, it's clear he'll be able to explain his way around it. Petyr is now the ruler of the Eyrie and its lands, but his thirst for power probably isn't going to stop there.

Trial by combat

If Lysa's death was the episode's biggest surprise, the stalling before the trial by combat was its biggest disappointment. But at least we got a lot of great Tyrion screen time in the meantime.
Tyrion learns who his few remaining allies are and aren't as they come to visit him in the Black Cells. First it's Jaime, who wants to chide him for not accepting a deal at the wall. But as Tyrion points out, that would have given Tywin everything he wanted: his favorite son would have to go to Casterly Rock and father kids legitimately, and the son he hates would be banished to a snowy hellhole forever.
Sadly, Jaime explains that he cannot defend Tyrion in battle.
Calling on Bronn turns out to be just as unsuccessful, as the sellsword has done what he does best: do something for money. His point that he can't go up against the Mountain — Cercei's choice for Tyrion's trial by combat — is a fair one. It's just a shame to see one of the show's best characters go out by getting married.
In the hour of need, Tyrion receives a visit from the Prince of Dorne, who continues to be one of the coolest characters of Season 4. From this visit, we learn how long Cercei has held a grudge against her brother: from the time he killed their mother coming out of the womb.
Unfortunately, we're forced to wait two weeks to see the battle between the men known as the Viper and the Mountain. It will definitely be worth it.

Underneath the Mouse Head: 5 Facts About Deadmau5

Deadmau5

Electronic music producer Deadmau5, who is known for wearing a costume mouse head during performances, recently set the headpiece aside for a Skype chat with Mash.
Born Joel Thomas Zimmerman, the 32-year-old musician detailed his new digital project, a meme-infused car, 3D printing, music and more. Here are five facts from the interview:

1. He just launched a 'no bullshit' website for fans

Tired of wading through "bullshit" on Twitter and other social networks, Deadmau5 and Upfrontlaunched Deadmau5 Live, an online platform where he can interact more intimately with fans and keep them updated on "random crap" and his "stupid cat." The site went live Friday, a month after he first teased it. Mobile apps for the experience will arrive in March.
While the site offers free access, some of the interactive features can only be unlocked through a monthly membership ($4.99) or what Deadmau5 calls a paid "suckscription" model. Live streams only for subscribers will include tutorials from deadmau5, screen sharing, events and concerts. "Suckscribers" also can download full songs, leave comments on "MSG BOREDS," and occasionally interact with Deadmau5 in scheduled video chats.

2. A lover of Nyan Cat, he wants to do this to a Ferrari

Nyan Cat Ferrari

"I only know one dude who would do this to a half-million dollar Ferrari: me," he told Mashable via Skype chat. "LAWL. Suck it, world. Nyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyan."

3. He bought a 3D printer to make things like this

Deadmau5 uses a MakerBot Replicator to print 3D items at his home in Canada. He documents his creations on his Instagram account.

4. He's 'pro-responsibility' when it comes to drugs

When asked about the current "drug scene" in the electronic dance music community (particularly at shows and festivals), Deadmau5 rattled off a familiar sentiment he's used in the past: "I'm not anti-drug and I'm not pro-drug, but I am all for pro-responsibility."

Vin Diesel Reveals 'Fast and Furious 7' Details, Paul Walker Scene

Fast-and-furious-7-release-date.jpg

Fast and Furious 7 will arrive in theaters on April 10, 2015, actor Vin Diesel announced on Facebook. Filming for the movie, which was originally slated to premiere in July 2014, was recently put on hold indefinitely after Paul Walker died in a car crash on Nov. 30.
Walker plays undercover agent Brian O' Conner in the Fast and Furious films, and on Sunday night, co-star Diesel posted a photo of their final scene together on his Facebook page, ending his post with "P.S. He'd want you to know first…"
The Fast and Furious films have earned $2.3 billion worldwide since 2001.
Following the accident, Universal Pictures scrambled to decide the franchise's future in the wake of Walker's death. The studio had started filming the Fast and Furious 7 in September, but production went on hiatus for the holidays when Walker died after the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT he and driver Roger Rodas — a friend and owner of car-customization shop Always Evolving — were riding in crashed and caught fire in Santa Clarita, Calif. Officials said speed was a factor in Walker's accident.
Earlier this month, Universal halted production indefinitely and released this statement:
Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.
The Fast and Furious franchise celebrated Walker's life with an emotional YouTube video set to Diddy and Skylar Grey's "Coming Home."
