Vin Diesel Reveals 'Fast and Furious 7' Details, Paul Walker Scene
Fast and Furious 7 will arrive in theaters on April 10, 2015, actor Vin Diesel announced on Facebook. Filming for the movie, which was originally slated to premiere in July 2014, was recently put on hold indefinitely after Paul Walker died in a car crash on Nov. 30.
Walker plays undercover agent Brian O' Conner in the Fast and Furious films, and on Sunday night, co-star Diesel posted a photo of their final scene together on his Facebook page, ending his post with "P.S. He'd want you to know first…"
The Fast and Furious films have earned $2.3 billion worldwide since 2001.
Following the accident, Universal Pictures scrambled to decide the franchise's future in the wake of Walker's death. The studio had started filming the Fast and Furious 7 in September, but production went on hiatus for the holidays when Walker died after the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT he and driver Roger Rodas — a friend and owner of car-customization shop Always Evolving — were riding in crashed and caught fire in Santa Clarita, Calif. Officials said speed was a factor in Walker's accident.
Earlier this month, Universal halted production indefinitely and released this statement:
Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.
The Fast and Furious franchise celebrated Walker's life with an emotional YouTube video set to Diddy and Skylar Grey's "Coming Home."
"To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die."
